Theft Update
Good Afternoon,
This week there have been two reports of private golf carts missing from the north cart shed. Two weeks ago there was a report of two sets of golf clubs missing from the north cart shed. A month ago there was a report of a missing cart charger from the north cart shed.
Police reports have been filed for all of these incidents other than the cart charger. The two missing carts were reported to be in the north cart shed two weeks ago. The cart sheds are always locked at night when staff leaves and opened in the morning when staff arrives to work. The sheds remained locked if the golf course is not open.
EZ GO, in Britt, has been updated on one missing golf cart, the owner’s information, and the serial number to file in their system. The other cart owner could not remember detailed information of his cart at the time of the reported theft.
I have spoken to four different companies to get a proposal for security cameras installed on all entrances to sheds and the clubhouse entry points. They have been provided an aerial map with all of our buildings in view. Each company will be on site next week to take pictures and create a security plan and quote to the golf course. These will be discussed with the City Manager and a request will be made to the city council.
There have been no signs of forced entry in the cart shed and every morning the doors have all remained closed and locked. We have no idea if the thefts are occurring during the day or night.
This is obviously a difficult situation for the owners whose property has been stolen and it’s frustrating for me as the Director of Golf. We’re working as quickly as we can to move forward from a security standpoint and providing the police with any additional information as it is brought to my attention.
We have never experienced a situation like this and it’s very difficult to comprehend why somebody makes these decisions. I will update you if and when additional information becomes available.
Please share this email with anyone you feel would benefit from knowing this information. You can respond to this email if you have further questions or have any information that might help the police.
