Good Morning,
The recent snowfall has really been a blessing for the golf course. Snow is usually a bad four letter word when winter rolls around, but it is very important for the golf course. Snowfall provides an insulation blanket for the bentgrass greens which protects the turf from the cold winter temperatures and cold wind. The turfgrass was starting to get very dry and the need for moisture was getting high before this snowfall. The other alternative is hauling water to the greens to prevent turf loss in the Spring. Conditions will continue to be monitored as we move forward.
This past week Dakota Pump was back on site for phase two of the pumphouse renovation project. They installed the six inch piping from the 75 HP turbine pump and the 5 HP submersible jockey pump. They also installed the pump panels for both units. This new setup will eliminate the future threat of any flood damage to the operations.
The next step of the process will be to have Pixler Electric complete the wiring process and the irrigation consultant to do the programming for the system. the 75 HP turbine still needs the motor installed to complete the operations. In the end, we will have a up to date pumphouse operation that should function at the highest level possible.
The golf course conducted a survey to the golfing public in 2023. It was a great opportunity to get some feedback from our golfers. It also gave us some information to improve our product and make The Muni a better place for people to spend their recreational time.
Some of the improvements we made, based off the survey include:
The ability for online tee times, a mobile friendly website, more pro shop options, a new beverage cart that is more available, better dandelion control, and we planted more trees. Currently we are building a landscape plan to upgrade existing areas and should have it completed by the end of the 2025 golf season. We are also exploring options to fund the renovation to our existing cart paths which were installed 25 years ago.
We are once again offering the survey to our golfing community to get some feedback to see what we are doing right and gather feedback on what we can improve. We appreciate all of our customers that choose to spend their time playing golf at The Muni. The goal is to provide a family friendly environment and a high level golf course for players of all ages to enjoy each and every day. Fortunately we have a staff that loves the golf course as much as the people who play golf there during the season.
