The Muni Update
Jan 12, 2025

Good Morning,
This past week a lot of time was spent cleaning in the clubhouse facility. All of our beverage inventory was updated in preparation for events we are hosting over the next four weeks. It's always nice to have the opportunity to have people use our facility for a non golf event. We generally host six to eight events in the off season. Last evening we hosted the retirement party for Clay County Deputy Chief Zach Larsen.
The golf course has received some rainfall this offseason but snow has been minimal. The snow cover is very beneficial, for the golf course, acting as an insulation blanket on the bentgrass greens. The precipitation has been nice to help keep the crown of the plant from drying but it does not protect it from the high NW winds we get through the winter months. Right now the golf course conditions are doing well and there is minimal threat for turf loss.
I have also been working through our remaining equipment repair process. These parts will be ordered in the upcoming week and the remaining repairs will be completed prior to the start of the season. The majority of our necessary repairs have been completed with smaller issues still needing to be addressed.
We purchased an equipment lift approximately ten years ago to help better assist with repairs at all times of the year. This equipment lift has helped us become so much more efficient in completing a timely repair process. At the golf course we complete the majority of all equipment repairs in the maintenance facility ourselves.
The Spencer Fire Department will be on site this morning to go through practical training for ice rescue. We are using the irrigation pond as our training facility to help become more proficient in ice rescue skills. This training has been completed at Stolley's in the past before moving to the golf course.
In 2024 we moved to a brand new software in the clubhouse for our daily operations. We also developed a new mobile friendly website for the golf course. These new additions now make it possible for our golfing patrons to pay their season fees online after they create a profile on our website. I encourage everyone to use this new tool to make payment for the 2025 season from the ease of their home computer or smartphone.
Please feel free to reach out with any questions or additional information you might need on a topic. Enjoy the remainder of the weekend. Spring is inching closer and closer and we will be starting another golf season at The Muni!
