The Muni Update
Good Morning,

This past week the golf course operations were back to as close to normal as we could expect considering the devastation our community experienced two weeks ago. We still have staff members that are dealing with the loss or damage to their homes and I am giving them as much time away as necessary so their personal lives remain the priority.
The golf course is in very nice shape even though we have been operating short staffed. The grounds crew has been doing an exceptional job keeping up with the daily operations. The soil is so saturated with moisture it is resulting in the grass growing like mad. We are constantly mowing all areas of the golf course and starting back at the beginning right away.
I'm hopeful this coming week I can continue working on the remaining clover and broadleaf weeds around the golf course. As I stated last week I have treated over 50 acres of turfgrass and still have about 110 left to apply herbicide applications to control the broadleaf weeds. The amount of rain we have received this season has really made it difficult to complete this process. Since the start of June we received 12.15 inches of rain at the golf course bringing the yearly total to 33.3 inches.

Earlier this week I placed an order with Srixon to get logo golf balls in the clubhouse. It has been a couple of years since we offered these balls for sale and I thought it would be neat to include the new design for the golf course on these balls. We have expanded a lot of our pro shop inventory this season to include more golf balls and inventory offerings to the public and it's been pretty successful.
This morning we will be hosting our annual two couple alternate shot tournament. There are 86 golfers registered with a 9:15 shotgun start. I plan to have open golf available at 1:30 this afternoon.
I have continued to fill in working shifts at the fire department when it does not conflict my work schedule at the golf course. It's so difficult to comprehend this natural disaster we have all been living with for the past two weeks. It makes me so proud to be a member of this community when I see everyone pulling together to get Spencer back on its feet. The number of volunteers is so heartwarming. There really is a lot of good in this world. I hope each of you is safe and doing as well as possible.

Please reach out to me if you have any questions or comments. I'd be happy to provide any additional information on any topic. Please enjoy the remainder of the weekend.
