The Muni Update
Oct 12, 2025
Good Morning,
It's been a beautiful Fall golf season so far at The Muni. The weather has been great and we've had a lot of golfers enjoying some wonderful playing conditions at The Muni. We are still offering all day golf with a rental cart for $35 or purchase your 2026 season pass and play the remainder of the 2025 golf season for no additional charge. You can also login to your profile on our website and sign up for automatic monthly payments over the next nine months to make payments a little easier.
The street division assisted us with a drainage project between the north cart shed and the storage units. this area was graded, gravel was added, followed by eight inches of topsoil. The new grade will allow surface drainage to flow to the driving range and eliminate the standing water issue in this area. The last step in the project will be the seeding. We will keep this area closed to eliminate an vehicle traffic until the seed is established.
Staff has been busy working on our landscaping renovation project the past several weeks. We have removed the weed barrier from all of the landscaping areas on the golf course. The next step will be to remove the existing plant materials from these areas. Black sol will then be added to the landscaping areas to create better growing conditions for the new plants.
We will also be rebuilding the waterfall landscaping behind #10 green. There has been a lot of erosion to the different levels of the landscaping. Staff will remove soil and add additional landscaping rocks to create a better support system for the integrity of the landscaping. Existing plant material from other landscaping areas will be used in the waterfall area. We are excited to bring a fresh look to this area of the golf course.
The golf course irrigation system has been in operation more in the last two months in comparison to the first five months of the golf season. There have been a few minor issues with system repairs but overall everything has been functioning properly. Our latest repair was near #16 green where we had an issue with the main line. This repair was a little tricky but is currently repaired and in operation.
We also had a couple of fairway irrigation stations stick on overnight on hole #3. This has left a lot of standing water at the start of the fairway as well as near the approach of the green. This issue generally happens when debris gets stuck in the valve diaphragm.
There are quite a few projects planned for the remainder of the golf season. Here is a list with some brief description:
- Aerify Greens- this will be completed after the Chili Open using 1/2" solid tines. There will be no topdressing applied to the greens.
- Edge Sandtraps- a straight spade will be used to create a new edge around each sand trap. This will be followed by pushing sand up to the face of each sand trap as well.
- Sod Work- clean up around the existing landscaping areas and repair damaged areas in the fairways.
- Tree and Stump Removal- there are approximately 25 trees that still need to be removed as well as the stumps. The Park Department will assist with this project.
- Hedge Trimming- the bushes on holes #3, #14, #15, and #16 will be pruned back to a couple feet from the ground. This will happen once the leaves fall off the plants to make removal easier.
- Parking Lots- staff will be adding road gravel to the parking lots and cart paths around the clubhouse surrounds.
- Landscaping- remove the landscaping beds behind #18 green and by #2 tees. We will also be adding black soil to the existing landscaping areas to create better growing conditions.
- Tee Signs- There are still three landscaping signs that need to be painted. #18 tee and the two signs next to the practice green.
Next Sunday we will be hosting our annual Chili Open. This event will be a shotgun start at 10:00 AM. The entry fee is $160 per team. There will be complimentary chili provided for the participants.
Enjoy the remainder of the weekend. Please reach out if there are any questions or the need for additional information.
