The Muni Update
Good Morning,

The week started off with the repair of a four inch main irrigation line behind #1 green. There was an isolation valve as well as a four inch irrigation "T" that cracked causing the leak. We also had a concrete thrust block on the north side of the "T" to support the pressure on this irrigation line. It was all cut out and removed then pieced back together with a new thrust block added at the end of the repair.

We also completed the programming process in the pumphouse for the new transducer and pressure gauge installed on Tuesday morning. There was a damaged flow sensor that was replaced and programmed on May 3 at which time we realized the transducer also needed to be replaced followed by programming the new one. This was completed early in the morning.
After the programming was completed the main lines were slowly filled to build up pressure in the system. I opened up stations while staff monitored the irrigation functions around the golf course. The irrigation consultant completed the programming process as the pressure changed by opening and closing different irrigation stations. Everything checked out perfectly and we started heavy irrigation programs Tuesday night and have not slowed down since.
Maintenance on the grounds has picked up the past week with more frequent mowing practices. The spotty areas on the golf greens are also starting to look a lot better. Starting next week we will be moving to our seasonal mowing practices on the golf course. The soil temperatures have risen quite a bit this past week and the grass is really responding well.

The Street Division was on site the latter part of the past week to continue the upgrade to our shelter behind #2 green. They prepped the area for the concrete pour that will be completed on Monday. After the concrete pour is completed the shelter will be constructed very similar to the shelter by #5 tee area. Thank you to the street employees for taking the lead on this project.
This coming week I will start treating our fairways, tees, green surrounds, and certain areas of the roughs with a pre-emergent to control the germination of crabgrass on the golf course. This is an annual treatment that is done at this time of the season. I will also start treating the grounds with a herbicide to control the presence of weeds.
Each Spring we have a new crop of dandelions that start blooming around the property. It's a long process that cannot be done during windy conditions. I generally start treating the property that borders the homeowners and then work my way around the golf course. Again, it's a lengthy process and will take some time to complete.

I would like to wish a very Happy Mother's Day to the amazing people that take on this role with so much love and care on a daily basis. I hope you enjoy the remainder of your weekend.
